going to college and coached the B squad and junior high wrestling team there for three years.  I started working for the Olmsted County Sheriff's Department in 1994 in the jail and then started with the Rochester Police Department in 1996 and have been with RPD ever since.  I started coaching youth wrestling in 1998 when Nick was in kindergarden.  At that time both Nick and Mitchell were wrestling for the Rochester Matmen program.  We moved to the Byron program in 2000 when Nick was in 1st grade.  I took over coaching in 2001 and have been there ever since and this will be my 7th year with Byron Youth Wrestling.
Chris Douglas

I've been coaching in the Byron Youth Wrestling program since 2002.  I'm a former wrestler (who achieved the greatest heights of mediocrity in his career) and graduate of Byron High School.  I'm a Media Services Director at the Mayo Clinic, having graduated from the Universities of Wisconsin-Stout and St. Thomas, and also serve on the Byron School Board.  My wife Heather is a true wrestling mom as our three boys, Evan (13), Nick (10), and Nathaniel (9) have been active in the Byron wrestling program since they were in kindergarten and
Parent Coaches
We are fortunate to have a solid crew of parents who put hundreds of hours of volunteer time into our program each season. Whether it be taking the role of assistant coach at the two-a-week practices, stepping in as a referee or scorekeeper in a pinch, prepping our wrestlers in the bullpen at tournaments, or any number of other tasks, they are always quick to step up to the plate. They share their love of the sport with all of our wrestlers, and it shows.
Steve Thompson

I'm married and my wife's name is Mary.  I have four boys, Mitchell (15), Nicholas (13), Ryan (10) and Jacob (4). I'm a 1989 graduate of Byron High School where I played football and wrestled.  After High School I went to North Dakota State University in Fargo North Dakota and then to Rochester Community College to finish my Law Enforcement Degree.  I wrestled while I was in college and was doing well until I hurt my knee.  I stopped competitive wrestling after the 1991 season. I started coaching in 1992 in Byron while I was
preschool.  As the program continued to grow under Steve Thompson, I became active in coaching as it was becoming more than one person could handle.  I'm very appreciative of all the wrestling parents who have stepped forward since then to help as well.
