Welcome Wrestling Parents!
The following is an excerpt from 2005 Second Edition
Parent's Guide to Youth Wrestling, by Bill Campbell.
It is an official publication of USA Wrestling, and is
available for download below, free of charge.
If your child is about to become a wrestler
and this is your first real experience with
the sport, you will want to know what is
happening as you watch from the bleachers,
what to expect as the match progresses, and how to react when your child comes off the mat. This guide provides this information and more, and is the first step toward maximizing the benefit your child may experience as they explore this new and exciting sport. Download the Youth Wrestling Guide
Parent Coordinators
Denise and Kirby Long are serving as Parent Coordinators. The purpose of this role is to ensure that all wrestlers have an opportunity to compete at individual tournaments throughout the season. Due to varying family schedules, some wrestlers have a difficult time making it to weekend tournaments. Upon request, the parent coordinators will arrange rides for wrestlers to attend tournaments and/or will match wrestlers with volunteer coaches. For more information, contact Denise and Kirby at 775-2300 or send a request by e-mail.
Singlets
In past years, singlets have been issued to every wrestler free of charge, but because it has become increasingly difficult to
collect the singlets at the end of the season, parents will be asked to pay a $50 deposit per singlet. If the singlet is not turned in on or before April 30, 2008, the check will be cashed. Singlets will be distributed at practice on November 28. Checks are due at that time, and should be post-dated to April 30, 2008.
Picture Night
Team and individual photos will be taken on ___________. This is an optional purchase, and even if you don't purchase prints, we would like all wrestlers included on the group photo. Make sure your wrestler(s) wear their Byron singlet on picture night!
